Yes. Jan 18 is the day Taiwan government gives out the new year presents for all the Taiwan citizens. The consumption coupons, des coupons de consommation! Every citizen can get NT3600, around USD110 coupons for shopping! From the new-born baby to the old old granny!
The cost of this coupon program reaches almost NT82 billion which is around USD2.5 billion. To against this global economic crisis, the purpose for the whole coupon program is to create more GDP for Taiwan in 2009 since the deadline for the coupons is in Sep, 2009. The forecast shows this program couldl lead to a 0.64% rise of Taiwan GDP. Sounds good. And just hopefully 2009 is a better year for the whole wide world!
